New York Times metro editor steps down after internal investigation

The metro editor of The New York Times, Wendell Jamieson, resigned on Monday following an internal investigation at the newspaper.

"I regret and apologize for my mistakes and leaving under these circumstances," Jamieson said in a statement published by the Times.

"Leading Metro for the last five years and working with the incredible Times team has been the high point of my professional life," he continued.

Times spokeswoman Eileen Murphy did not say why an investigation into Jamieson was launched.
