Opposing Obamacare a Losing Strategy for GOP: Poll

Source: Newsweek Magazine

REPUBLICANS WHO VOTED AGAINST OBAMACARE COULD LOSE IN NOVEMBER, POLL SHOWS

BY NICOLE GOODKIND ON 5/4/18 AT 1:39 PM

One year after Republicans voted to dismantle parts of Obamacare and leave 23 million Americans without health insurance, a new poll shows that voters in key midterm districts are less likely to vote for representatives who attacked Obamacare, or the Affordable Care Act.

The poll, conducted by Public Policy Polling, a Democratic organization, surveyed voters in seven key districts in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina and Pennsylvania as well as statewide in Nevada and Tennessee, and found that the majority of voters in all battleground areas thought legislators should work to strengthen Obamacare instead of repealing it and beginning anew.

The majority of voters had great concerns about the repercussions of repealing Obamacare, including a possible age tax, increased premiums and the elimination of mandatory coverage for preexisting conditions.

Between 39 percent and 49 percent of respondents said they were less likely to vote for Republicans who voted to repeal Obamacare, while only 28 percent and 36 percent said they were more likely to support that candidate.

If Republicans can get re-elected on the strength of standing by their evil principles, why can’t Democrats stand up for their good ones?

affordable health care and tax cuts for the average citizen. The majority of voters in both parties agree on these issues. Half of the moron's that voted to end "Obamacare" are so ignorant they didn't even know it was the same as the ACA when they voted. They woke up and realized the tax cuts were for the rich though. The evidence is in the town halls, calls to Congress etc. Pelosi is smart and she is correct in urging Dems to avoid the "impeachment trap" that the GOP is setting up. We need to focus on local issues like in the special elections and avoid any campaign talk about the 2nd Amend and abortion.
