Conway: White House does not have a credibility problem
Source: The Hill
BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 05/06/18 09:31 AM EDT
Counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway said Sunday that she doesnt believe the Trump White House has a credibility problem.
"No, I dont, Conway told CNNs State of the Union when asked if she thinks the White House has issues with its credibility. Conway, when pressed on President Trump's falsehoods, insisted the president doesnt lie.
The comments from Conway come after The New York Times reported Friday that Trump knew about the $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels before he denied knowledge of it.
Conway during the CNN interview also said that she had no knowledge of any payments potentially Trump's personally lawyer, Michael Cohen, could have made to other women.

(22,651 posts)In the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods.
It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying.

(10,872 posts)That what comes next is pure BS. This is a responsibility they have to their audience as journalists. When they know that the interview will be very untruthful, they must warn the public ahead of time. Perhaps the networks should track the lies told by these surrogates and give each one a "truther" rating. That rating should be clearly displayed in a ribbon on the bottom of the screen.

(14,173 posts)You don't, with a straight face, ask KAC "Do you think this White House has a credibility problem?"
You know what the answer is. At least once she gives her lying answer, have a list of reasons why you think SHE also has a credibility problem. My gawd they let this woman walk all over them. or talk all over them.
It doubly pathetic after they allow her this kind of deference even after the Michelle Wolf gig. Makes the WHCD society look like chumps.

(14,966 posts)You did not see what you just saw. You did not hear what you just heard.
This administration collectively, and the individuals in it as individuals, lie to you and then lie to you about having lied to you even when they know you know you were lied to. They're hoping to discombobulate you enough that you lose your grip on the initial impression of having been lied to, and just give up on knowing which way is up.
I'm particularly annoyed by the assertion that Trump never lies -- when there are many examples of him saying opposite things ON TAPE in quick succession. Not only DID we see it, we can STILL see it.
