Poll shows slight McCaskill lead over Hawley; Greitens tanking
Source: St Louis Post Dispatch
A new poll shows U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., holding a small but significant lead over her likely GOP election opponent, Josh Hawley.
Scandal-plagued Republican Gov. Eric Greitens, meanwhile, has retained the support of only about one-third of the Missouri voters, the poll shows.
The poll by Missouri Scout, a nonpartisan political news service, found McCaskill leading Hawley with 48 percent of the vote, to his 44 percent. That 4-point spread is just outside the poll's 3.27 percentage point margin for error.
That's an improvement for McCaskill over a poll last month that showed her with a statistically insignificant 1-point lead over Hawley.

(8,652 posts)I consider myself a pragmatic liberal. I'm pro-choice, pro-gun restrictions, pro-labor, pro-civil rights in all of its forms. I'm nearly a socialist on economics. However, I am always pragmatic enough that I know there will be some Democrats who hold office that may disagree with me on specific issues, especially tailored toward a more moderate constituency. I don't think I have to change that Democratic office holder's position, I believe I have to change his or her constituents opinions. Since I can't do that in a half of an election cycle from another state, I will send a check to Senators Manchin, McCaskell and Donnelly.
Remember this, every Democrat is better than every Republican in a General Election and politics is first about math and second about philosophy.
