Congressional Candidate Accosts Trans Woman Using Bathroom

Jazmina Saavedra, a California woman who is currently running for Congress, confronted a trans woman who was using the ladies’ restroom in a Denny’s and posted a video of the encounter on Facebook. Saavedra told the camera that she was attempting to use the women’s restroom when she realized that a trans woman occupied the stall. “So, that guy is violating my right to use the ladies’ room here, and he’s saying he’s a lady! Stupid guy,” she said, as she set up her camera and waited for her to leave the restroom. Saavedra also said that California politicians want to “endanger a woman like” her with laws that permit trans people to use restrooms that correspond to their identified gender. When the woman emerged from the restroom, Saavedra confronted her, saying, “You’re invading my privacy.” The unidentified woman responded, “Excuse me, I was using the toilet… Why are you singling me out lady? And I see [sic] you yesterday following me.” The woman left the restaurant as Saavedra called her stupid and diners looked on. “I was with my pepper spray ready and I called the manager so he helped me,” she told the camera after the woman left. “How can I be with a man inside of the ladies’ room just because he thinks he’s a lady? This is unbelievable. Only in California this happens.” On Saavedra’s “Vote for Jaz” website, she states she’s running for the state’s 44th district and wants to work to preserve “morals and faith” of “conservative families.”

And people with male genitalia have no problems sitting down to go pee in public restrooms because most corporate restaurant toilets are long bowl seats to accommodate all sorts of tush sizes (little kids sit easier on the long bowl toilets) - not the teeny space-saver round toilet seats.

I have a spouse of the male gender; over the years married to him, I've noticed male genitalia doesn't act like that of male horses when they pee (even though the volume might seem similar). So it's not like they're going to be spraying everywhere if they sit...

I really don't see how this moronic candidate (or the people she hopes will vote for her) feel they can 100% ID the gender of someone dressed as a woman. What are they looking for? A 5:00 shadow? Nor do I quite understand why someone transitioning from male to female would feel compelled, or even able after a certain point, to stand up to do the necessary -- and I mention that because one can tell from the sound effects whether a person is sitting or standing when they pee.

Which brings me to my final point against these bigoted paranoiacs: when has a rapist ever gone to the trouble to fully cross-dress just to lurk in a women's restroom?

I could go on, but more unisex restrooms are needed -- they are usually the same ones doing double duty as handicap-accessible separate rooms anyway.

There was never a case of a rapist who dressed like a woman to get in. They never needed to.

The restrooms were generally park or beach restrooms, or restrooms that were accessible from outside a building, not ones where patrons or staff could see a guy walking into the woman's restroom.
There were occasional reports of a man following a woman in to assault her, but never one where someone dressed up to sneak in.
Probably if someone looked hard enough, they might find a handful of cases nation wide over the century - and probably during that pre-60's time where there were bathroom attendants and ladies dressed up and wore hats, scarves or veils - and gloves when they went out in public.

a women's rest room and uses its fixtures to do the thing people do in rest rooms. The person presumably closes the stall door before doing that thing, since women's rest rooms have stalls and not urinals, and so the person does not display any anatomical indicia of gender to anyone. The person does not accost or assault anyone, but merely deals privately with a normal biological function. In light of the architecture of ladies' rooms, how could Saavedra even presume to know what sort of genitalia were attached to the person who was just trying to pee? And in any event, how does peeing privately in a closed rest room stall harm anyone?
