Democrats' newest midterm pitch: Crackdown on corruption

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by muriel_volestrangler (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: Washington Post

Democrats are preparing to highlight allegations of corruption surrounding the Trump administration — and a legislative agenda to prevent future abuses — as they continue rolling out their party platform ahead of November’s midterm elections.

According to a senior Democratic official familiar with the announcement, the new agenda will include proposals that would eliminate loopholes that allow lobbyists and lawmakers to buy and sell influence without the public’s knowledge. The message: Elect Democrats in November to “clean up the chaos and corruption in Washington.”

“This administration is failing to police itself, to set moral standards, to clean up its messes, to shun corrupt behavior, and to drain the swamp,” the Democratic official said. “It’s the American people who are getting stuck with a raw deal. That has to change.”
The proposals are set to be rolled out Monday afternoon on Capitol Hill with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and several other congressional Democrats who have been engaged in anti-corruption issues, including Rep. John Sarbanes (Md.) and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.).

Finally, an actual message. Yes, we need a catchphrase like "This is what Draining The Swamp actually looks like!".

Taste in the mouth. How do we recover as a country unless the people are assured, obstruction, graft and treason are stopped.?

The GOP voters wanted to drain the swamp but since they only get their info from Fux Ruse and RW propaganda hate radio they aren't aware of most of the corruption. Pelosi doesn't want to have impeachment as a theme for Dems to run with in the midterms for fear of a backlash. This is a better plan realistically.

Well........ I'm not too excited about that, to be honest.

I prefer something, at least as part of a short and sweet series of catch phrases..., telling it EXACTLY LIKE IT IS----

THE CORRUPTION OF THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT...

There are not many Trump scandals. There is one Trump scandal. Singular: the corruption of the American government by the president and his associates, [AND REPUBLICANS]who are using their official power for personal and financial gain rather than for the welfare of the American people, and their attempts to shield that corruption from political consequences, public scrutiny, or legal accountability.

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/05/there-is-only-one-trump-scandal/560825/

trump and 'his associates' are joining with global gangsters to bring down American, indeed WESTERN, Democracy and any republican who does not act to put a stop to it is part of this, the TRUE conspiracy.

Messaging that will resonate with the wiggly "independent," squishy center voters who need to be spoon fed things they can parrot to their friends!
