The episode illustrates how Trump launders lies.
AARON RUPAR MAY 24, 2018, 10:49 AM
On Thursday morning, President Trump tweeted that former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper has now admitted that there was Spying in my campaign.
Large dollars were paid to the Spy, far beyond normal, Trump wrote. Starting to look like one of the biggest political scandals in U.S. history. SPYGATE a terrible thing!
Trumps tweet is a blatant lie. Clapper has not admitted anything of the sort. In fact, he has repeatedly said the opposite.
Consider what Clapper said on The View this Tuesday.
So I ask you, was the FBI spying on Trumps campaign? host Joy Behar asked Clapper.

(16,104 posts)is completely baffling to professionals who are used to conversing in the realm of fact, truth and the requirements of the rule of law.
It will all be incomprehensible until we all stop paying attention to this pathological liar who will say and do anything to perpetuate his brand.

(5,801 posts)As David Cay Johnston--who has investigated and written extensively on the con for decades--says, "Donnie has skills."
This is one of them.

(11,885 posts)Then expands from the original lie , to lie some more. Con's like him and Bernie Madoff use that tactic often, and always have millions of excuses from lying most of their lives. Nothing should be considered the truth from this guy, and his past proves it. His corruption is catching up to him, and he can't stand it. He has to attack the truth , and the Department of Justice, and our law enforcement people to make himself look better with. He's a fraud.

(2,250 posts)Stop the madness!! Gosh this schtick is getting old, especially when anyone can see the facts clash with what is coming out of his mouth. His ability to brand and label and then have it be memorable and repeatable is nauseating.

(9,897 posts)The media whores who chase ratings and air non-stop "debates" / "discussions" about whatever batshit insane lie Trump spews next are just as guilty as Trump himself...in fact they are more to blame.
The media should simply report on Trump as follows:
"In other news today, President Trump again failed to complete a single day in office without uttering additional untruths throughout the day. This marks the 535th consecutive day of fabrications and lies from the Oval Office...."
You want something memorable? Start airing THAT...
Does anyone remember the Ted Koppel / ABC News show "Nightline"?
Does anyone remember when it started? (1979-1980-ish)
What was their initial schtick on Nightline? It was the Iranian Hostage Crisis...and a daily countdown of how many days they had been in that embassy...as the days rolled on, the whole thing became like water dripping on rocks...it made an indelible impression.
Treat Trump's non-stop lying as a true second American Hostage crisis already...

(43,259 posts)once everyone catches on, the tactic will no longer hold water, AND
because of the plethora of problems his policies are creating and his delight at being such a stable lying genius, he now must lie about EVERYTHING, and this erodes any remaining stature.
Maintaining control by lying only works for so long.

(260 posts)You can fool some of the people all of the time and you can fool all of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time. Abraham Lincoln
The problem is that the people who are still 'fooled', will most likely continue to be, as they want this racist, misogynistic, narcissist, (etc.) to keep telling the lie that he'll MAGA. He's a con-man pure and simple. At least he's playing for big money though, that Indonesia development deal that China just bankrolled netted him 500 million, pretty sweet since all he had to do was break his oath of office, sell out our national security, and change his slogan to MACA (Make China Great Again), probably even get a free ZTE phone out of the deal. sweet!

(30,758 posts)45 said it was about disrespecting the flag. It was not. It was about black men being arrested, abused and killed for no reason. Now it is about the flag because 45 said so? No. Keep telling them what the protest is about. NOT the flag.
