Hoping he'll have a long, and healthy career after he recovers.

He deserves such respect and gratitude from everyone in his community for putting the safety of those children above his own.

12. Certainly, Judi. Thank goodness the wounds were apparently not life threatening.

Someone commented that the NRA must be sorry he didn't shoot back.

Frankly, I'd like to see them have this happened to a loved one - and then look that loved one in the eye and tell them that guns are "part of our cherished traditions" or some such nonsense.

North should be in jail anyway, given the millions in cocaine trafficking he and the rest of the Bush-sponsored 'Enterprise' gang engaged in during the '80s.

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP) — The Latest on a possible shooting at an Indiana middle school (all times local):

6:45 p.m.

A student who was in an Indiana middle school classroom when a classmate opened fire says the science teacher launched a basketball at the gunman as part of his effort to limit the damage.

Thirteen-year-old Ethan Stonebraker told ABC News that teacher Jason Seaman ran at the shooter "with his arms in front of him, and then he just tackled him against the wall." He swatted the gun out of the shooter's hand.

Seaman's brother said the teacher was a defensive end for Southern Illinois University's football team and has never been a person to run away.

14. Science teacher hailed as hero after tackling gunman at Indiana middle school

CBS/AP May 25, 2018, 8:22 PM

A science teacher is being praised as a hero after tackling a male student armed with two handguns at a suburban Indianapolis middle school Friday morning. A student said he watched Jason Seaman run toward the gunman and tackle him to the ground after he fired several shots into a classroom.

"We were all hiding in the back of a classroom behind some desks, then [Seaman] was yelling to call 911, to get out of the building as fast as we could," the student told CBS affiliate WTTV. The student hailed Seaman, who is also a football coach, as a hero.

. . .

Seaman was shot three times: once in the stomach, hip and arm. The former college football player who doubles as the middle school football coach is being hailed as a hero for putting himself between his students and the bullets.

"I want to let everyone know that I was injured but am doing great," Seaman said in a statement to WTTV provided by a friend. "To all the students, you are all wonderful and I thank you for your support. You are the reason I teach."
