Giuliani suggests Obama, top intelligence officials knew of 'spygate'

Source: The Hill

BY MAX GREENWOOD - 05/27/18 07:00 AM EDT

President Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani suggested on Sunday that former President Barack Obama and his top intelligence officials "knew" the FBI had used an alleged top-secret informant to spy on Trump's 2016 campaign.

In an interview with radio host John Catsimatidis, Giuliani insisted that former CIA Director John Brennan and former National Intelligence Director James Clapper were aware of the informant.

Giuliani also suggested that Brennan likely briefed Obama himself on the matter.

"Brennan and Clapper knew about it. Brennan briefed him everyday, Obama — well to the extent that he got briefed everyday," Giuliani said. "You would have to have brought this up, wouldn't you? Gosh, I can't see how you would escape it."

popped up after Ghouliani entered the picture. He keeps things stirred up on Trump's Witch Gate and Bolton does the same
on the international scene. Both are nuts and should be run out of town.

Propaganda about evil democrats. They can toss out 9 crazy lies about democrats doing something illegal and everyone recognizes them as lies.

Then some democrat forgets to dot an 'i' and it's the crime of the century and people start to think there must be some truth to all these allegations.

The annoying thing is somehow they never get punished for all those lies. The media still gives them air time

All that spying on Donnie's campaign and we still lost.
Oh and hey all those illegal votes too! All in California! Why didn't we tell them to vote illegally in Wisconsin?

We're really bad at this election stealing stuff, aren't we.

This guy doesn't really know anything, he's just making it up as he goes and the media encourages him. As long as there is a camera on him, he'll just keep rattling on and news hosts will keep asking him questions, as if what he has to say is of some importance.

What was the timeline of that vs when the FBI sent in the informant?

Not sure when the informant began talking to the FBI.

From the public information I am not sure the "FBI sent in the informant" - I suspect more likely it was like much of the other reports the FBI received. The informant talked to member of the Trump campaign, was concerned about the Russian contacts, reported them to the FBI and was asked to report any more information of that sort. Just like the Australian diplomat that reported Trump campaign ties to Russians.

In other words, I do not believe the FBI instigated the contact with the informant or his contacts with members of the Trump campaign.

what his own WH spokespeople are saying!! One WH spokesman told the newspapers about the talks with N. Korea, and tRump called it "fake news". He must be upset about missing golf in Florida this weekend. The democrats likely told the weather service to direct the hurricanes to Florida, just to ruin tRump's weekend. He is such a know-nothing, dumb person. Guess that is the type of person the gop likes to have represent them.

In this case, it's the word "spy" (when it wasn't a spy). We should stop helping them.

Spygate is hype. Manufactured on the Tweet machine. "Spygate" is #FakeNews issued by someone trying to control the narrative, the truth, and the rule of law. It could even be viewed as more obstruction.

Manafort was hired as campaign manager. Network news gave his bio, and everyone knew our Intelligence Community would be all over it. Obama would have had to be a dunce not to know it instantly from the MSM news.

But there is a chasm between knowing, and directing, instigating. Obama did not order it. Period.

it political. From the earlier New Yorker article speaking of some behind the scenes discussions - mainly after the election, it is clear that none of his closest team did anything that would violate the Hatch act that says cabinet people are not supposed to be political.

I watched The Final Year Yesterday and it is pretty clear that Ben Rhodes was absolutely blindsided by the Trump win. He had spoken earlier in the film about the concern foreign people had in their questions to him that Trump could win - and he spoke of THAT (the possibility the US could elect Trump) as itself making foreign policy harder. On election night, this very articulate man could not come out with even a simple articulate comment - other than he could not put his thoughts in words.

Also, the word "lied" should replace "said."
