More than 60 Dem lawmakers demand ethics investigation into Trump's relationship with China

Source: The Hill

More than 60 Democratic representatives are demanding an ethics investigation into President Trump's ties to China, following the president's recent push to rescue Chinese telecommunications firm, ZTE.

Congressman David Cicilline (D-R.I.), posted a letter to David Apol, acting head of the federal government's ethics office, to Twitter on Sunday, stating that the request was prompted by Trump "advocating" for ZTE just days after the Chinese government gave one of the president's business endeavors a $500 million loan.

In the letter, lawmakers say the business dealing between the Trump Organization and China may have violated U.S. laws forbidding public officials from accepting payments or gifts from foreign entities without Congress's approval.

"The Chinese government's loan provides a clear financial benefit to President Trump," the letter reads. Despite the nearly unanimous recommendation by legal experts that he divest from his business interests before assuming the presidency, he failed to do so, instead placing his adult children in charge of day-to-day operations."

the repubes are going to surround and protect Dirty Donny* - and no doubt have their hairy, greazy palms out, happy to sell out America for a cut of the action. No way will the repubes take a stand for honesty or integrity. Sadly, it's just not in them at this point.

I remember being absolutely shocked and I burst out laughing when I heard Richard Painter introduced on some talk show as George W. Bush's ethics lawyer. I immediately said to myself, "GeeDub had an ethics lawyer? Huh?"

moves or keeps the thread to the top of the forum page so as to attract more attention.

P.S. Whenever you post on a thread you have essentially kicked it, your post did that.

The first real Democrats who joined DU realized immediately that traffic can go so fast a great article can make its way to the bottom, and even show up on page #2 if people only read it, and go on to the next topic.

I don't think too highly of anyone who tries to take a shot at the great DU'er you chose to attack. Wouldn't hurt to think twice before attacking once.

And you have a very esoteric system of kicking, etc., which to an outsider seems extraordinarily funny?

Furthermore, you are designating the duration of a person's usage of DU as a marker of his/her place in a pecking order.

People, you aren't aware of how you come across. Are the only people that matter old-time users? Why not consider how bewildering this virtual community is to outsiders? It's like a weird class system.

Something to think about. Don't attack me for exercising a little curiosity about your local customs.

It would be better simply to ask what something means if it’s unclear.
