Former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama took to social media on Monday to honor America's fallen service members on Memorial Day.
Obama shared a photo of himself in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with a message honoring "our fallen heroes."

Bush shared on Instagram a portrait he painted of David Wright, a marine who died this month, and honored the brave souls who have given their lives in defense of our country. May we honor them in thought and in deed this #MemorialDay, he added.

Former President Barack Obama on Monday tweeted a tribute to fallen soldiers after President Donald Trump used his Memorial Day tweet to praise himself.
In a Monday morning tweet, Trump wished the country a Happy Memorial Day before extolling the accomplishments of his own administration.
-snip-
Several hours later, Obama put the focus directly on the sacrifices of service members.

The stupidity of Trump and his $56 Million spent on his vacations. That would feed a lot of the poor, including thiose missing 1500!

(5,477 posts)It's not a 'happy' holiday, but rather one to remember, honor, and reflect on the sacrifice of those who gave their lives in service to their nation.
Note to Donnie Two-scoops: To those who have lost someone - either in our own family or in our military 'families' - in our nations service it's sort of like saying, 'Have a great time at your mother's funeral!' Stop being such an asshole!

(18,470 posts)I'm actually working today because I don't want anything to do with these "patriotic" holidays (Memorial Day, July 4, etc) as long as Fuckface von Two Scoops and his groupies are in office.

(5,914 posts)We now have Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veteran's Day devoted to "celebrate" our troops, while never actually doing a goddamn thing for them other than "honor" them with sales on mattresses and patio grills.
Pretty soon Thanksgiving will be similarly coopted for this bullshit.
