Gowdy: FBI acted properly with use of informant during 2016 campaign

Source: The Hill

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said Tuesday he believes the FBI acted properly with its use of an informant to speak with several members of President Trump's 2016 campaign.

"I am even more convinced that the FBI did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do when they got the information they got, and that it has nothing to do with Donald Trump," Gowdy said on Fox News's "The Story."

Gowdy's remarks come after he and other key lawmakers met with FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein last week to discuss the Russia probe as well as an FBI informant's contact with several Trump campaign advisers during the 2016 presidential election.

The Oversight Committee chairman said Wray and Rosenstein made it clear that the president was not the target of the department's investigation.

1. Oh, so we'll be stopping that "investigating the investigators" thing then? No?

I'm actually kind of shocked he even said this.

he may have known hyper-partisanship was bunk all along, that there were no emails! emails! emails! or he's just tired and sees where it leads.

Rosenstein does seem to be mollifying these miscreants just a tad.

"Where's the beef?" Even Foxy News told their minions the ManChild has zero evidence and is just lying. But the Bie Fib is set in his tiny brain as the best defence...get his populist hate driven Manichaeism cult to reign in Republicans when the indictments rain down on the entire swamp and only a cult will remain loyal.

When will the corporate media utter the forbidden L word? What will it take?

I saw a clip of it the other day on YouTube. He pulled no punches in his monologue, either. SE Cupp, who is one of the conservative commentators on CNN, also took Trump to the cleaners on her segment.

Fox is, as always, carrying water for the Republicans, but other media figures are telling it like it really is. Don't assume it isn't happening simply because you didn't see it.

have used LIE but the Big Three...I doubt they ever will...corporate policy permits profitable racists and liars as long as a red line is not crossed...a line constantly shifted to the cliff's edge now.

I don't watch TV at all, actually. I get all my news online. The few TV shows that interest me are available on my Android box, so I don't bother with a cable subscription.

But there are journalists out there calling it like it really is. CNN in particular runs frequent opinion articles from its contributors that tear into Trump. They had to disable comments on those because the Trumpanzees were becoming so unhinged.

Nicolle Wallace has been pretty impressive in that regard. And she's a Republican. Other fellow conservative commentators, like Steve Schmidt, Jennifer Rubin, Rick Wilson don't hesitate, either.

He many not have been directly involved in the Russian interference in the election but since the investigation was bound to get to his previous shady financial dealings, he has been trying to obstruct the investigation. There is no doubt in my mind that IQ45's action show consciousness of guilt. With Cohen's record being examined there is no way Dolt45's crooked business will be left uncovered.

Trey Gowdy: FBI’s Use of Informant for Trump Campaign Was Appropriate

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said on Tuesday that the FBI’s use of an informant for the Trump campaign in 2016 was appropriate, joining top Democrats in disputing President Donald Trump’s characterization of the informant as a spy.

“I am even more convinced that the FBI did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do when they got the information they got, and that it has nothing to do with Donald Trump,” Gowdy said during an interview on Fox News.

In recent days, Trump has parroted misleading claims about the FBI’s use of the informant as part of its counter-intelligence investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, dubbing the individual a “spy” and referring to the controversy as “Spygate.”

Gowdy’s comments were notable because the former federal prosecutor participated in a classified briefing about the informant last week that was conducted by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray. The so-called “Gang of Eight”—which includes House and Senate leaders in addition to the top Republicans and Democrats on the intelligence committees—also joined the briefing. The Democrats present at the meeting previously released a joint statement saying they heard “no evidence” from Rosenstein and Wray that a “spy” was placed within the Trump campaign.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), who sits on the Senate Intelligence Committee, has also backed Gowdy’s and other congressional leaders’ characterization of the FBI’s activities as part of the counter-intelligence investigation. On Sunday, the senator said the FBI was right to look into “individuals with a history of links to Russia that were concerning.”.........................

all of a sudden, as soon as these jackasses decide not to run for re-election, they all of a sudden become critical of the Trump and his BS.

Sorry, Trey Gowdy, Jeff Flake, Charlie Dent, and on and on and on.

These assholes would be singing a much different tune if they were running, as we all know it.
