Trudeau: Trump tariffs 'are an affront' to Canadian soldiers who 'fought and died' alongside America

Source: The Hill

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took aim at President Trump on Thursday over his implementation of steel and aluminum tariffs against Canada and other nations.

At a press conference Thursday, the Canadian leader issued some of his strongest remarks against the Trump administration's trade policies to date.

"Let me be clear: These tariffs are totally unacceptable," Trudeau said. "Canadians have served alongside Americans in two world wars and in Korea. From the beaches of Normandy to the mountains of Afghanistan, we have fought and died together."

Noting that Canada purchases more U.S. steel than any other nation, Trudeau lambasted the Trump administration for initiating the tariffs under the guise of confronting a threat to national security.

I have been exposed to his antics for over 50 years. He is/ has been a total jerk his entire life. The presidency has given him the power to spread his evil around. I have no words to express my feelings about this person. He is single handedly destroying all the good will that has been built up over the years. The only thing he does well is destroy everything he touches.

tariffs, it is a great insult to say an ally in war and peace for hundreds of years, and neighbor, would one day stop sending steel and aluminum...as if USA could not seize it in 48 hours by force if needed.

A great insult...do Americans not see that?

A real secession like happened in the days of the Confederacy actually took several years to organize. However Trump will probably be gone before 2020. If certain states seriously made a move to secede, Congress would take him out even sooner than 2020.

Just sayin'

It is all riding on November 2018.

Google Hartford Convention 1814. The only thing that stopped that movement was that peace had already been negotiated in Europe, but the news was delayed due to travel time across the Atlantic.

... but I think the inertia is still outweighing any pain involved, by quite a lot. Marshalling enough moral outrage to get states to agree to secede would take longer than the 2.5 years Cheeto has left in office. And I believe Congress would impeach him or convince him to resign (a la Nixon), if they thought there ever could be a secession.

All bets are off if Cheeto goes completely bonkers and tries to start World War III.
