A video, that quickly went viral, showed the woman being handed over the driving license by the officials. “Thousands of congratulations to the daughters of the homeland, being issued the first license in Saudi Arabia,” the tweet read.

When I lived there, one of the kids in my 8th grade class used to drive around. I'm sure he didn't have a license. But the rule was, if he was in an accident with a woman driver (this was on the American compound), the woman was automatically at fault. Granted, that was in the mid 80s, so I don't know how much this has changed. But the rules on the compound were considered much less strict than outside the compound. Just because women are now allowed to drive does not mean that the misogyny has vanished.
