RNC Chair: Obama "is not real anymore"
Source: CBS News
(CBS News) Four years after the nation enthusiastically embraced his presidency, President Obama's brand is broken, according to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.
"I think Barack Obama's not real anymore to the American people," Priebus said on CBS' "Face the Nation" from the site of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla. "At the top of the [Democratic] ticket is a man who sold us a bill of goods and delivered on very little."
Voters, he added, are "starving for real authentic people that make a promise and keep a promise."
As the Republican convention gets underway this week, Priebus and the GOP are tasked with convincing voters that Mitt Romney is the candidate they are looking for. The focus of the week, Priebus said, will be "telling the Mitt Romney story."

(16,254 posts)what few answers to questions I HAVE heard have made absolutely no sense. It's like he isn't plugged in at all.
At first, I thought he was too overwhelmed, but the comments he brings up himself during a conversation make absolutely no sense and often aren't even relevant to the subject they are discussing. It's like he plugs in afterthoughts when they pop up.
At least Steele can be interesting. They probably should have kept him.

If anyone is lacking in "authenticity" it's their candidate. Romney can't decide from moment to moment what he stands for; he says anything he thinks will sway a few voters in the moment, even if it contradicts everything he's said and done before. Then he denies he said it.
Sheesh, these people are desperate.

What a bizarre statement. Obama is the realest President we've ever had. If this is a KKKarl rovian act, attacking a strength, we're about to see the most strange campaign in history. Obama's got the upper hand, and we're about to watch a remake of The Exorcist.

(23,512 posts)This is absolutely a rovian talking point.
But it's incredibly revealing. Think about rove's usual tactic... attack the opponent's strengths, especially the ones that your opponent has that yours doesn't have. Which means they're afraid that rMoney is perceived as not being a real candidate.

(2 posts)It was the Republicans that initiated the banking free for all that resulted in our current financial situation. It helped propel a world depression (call it anything you want) and the waves are still pounding the world because of it!
Trade is a its very lowest. There simply isn't one. Even China is is trouble as there is a huge lack of money coming in to their burgeoning manufacturing sector.
The point is, no one is doing great except the Republicans with deep pockets. In Alberta Canada the Conservatives have been in power for more than 40 years and they have corrupted politics like no one has!.

Obama hasn't had any more chance of changing things than the proverbial snowball in hell. The hurt will continue; less under a Democratic Government than an Republican government who are still practicing Nixon economics. Trickle down doesn't work!
