(476 posts)This is what, 3rd or 4th report that the GOP said will prove them right, which they hyped, and which makes them look lousy.

(11,885 posts)AN illegitimate president. Was he pressuring Comey to do it, I think Comey can answer that .

(61,092 posts)We likely know what did pressure Comey from his book. He thought as everyone did in June that HRC would win and did not want to be accused of covering anything up. This was exasperated by Lynch feeling she could not speak on the investigation after the meeting with Bill Clinton. Then - having spoken out saying Clinton would not be charged by any reasonable prosecutor and that he would inform Congress if anything changed, he wrote the two letters that greatly harmed the Clinton campaign. I don't think he did it to help Trump.
I expect that both he and Lynch will be criticized for their roles here.

(6,881 posts)The Washington Post introduces the report with a very different slant:
"BREAKING NEWS
FBI agent texted Well stop Trump from becoming president, Justice report to show
The previously unreported message was sent by Peter Strzok, a key investigator on both the Clinton email case and the investigation of Russia and the Trump campaign. It is among the disclosures of a highly anticipated report by a Justice Dept. watchdog that is set to be released today."

(1,303 posts)The W. Post is a joke, and those FBI officials 'investigating' emails are cry out loud funnier than Mickey, Peter, Davy and Michael put together.

WaPo seemed to want to do "fair and balanced" reporting however what the 2 FBI agents did was a feather on one side of the scale vs Comey's lead brick on the other side of the scale.

(172,196 posts)who had "inappropriate" texts - apparently using government devices to boot (which would basically be misuse of government equipment). But then I expect that being they were apparently low level agents on the case, they really had no power to affect anything other than have their politically-charged texts embarrassingly revealed to the world.

(6,881 posts)This is beyond misleading. It's been a known fact well before the report.
