Diaper Sales Down in the US, Americans Having Fewer Babies

Source: CNN Money

(CNN Money) — America’s birth rate is at its lowest level in three decades. That’s a problem for Pampers and Huggies.

Birth rates began dropping in 2008 as the economy sank into a recession. Better access to contraceptives and younger Americans having children later in their lives have extended the decline, the National Center for Health Statistics found.

The downturn caused disposable diaper and training pant sales to fall almost 6% from April 2017 to 2018, according to Nielsen’s most recent brick-and-mortar retail scanner data.

“This new reality is beginning to take a substantial toll,” said Svetlana Uduslivaia, the head of industry research at Euromonitor International. The diaper slump will probably be the “normal for the foreseeable future.”

It's at its lowest level not "in 30 years" - but on record (although still high in absolute numbers).

If births fell 6% last year, as the article suggests, it would put the birth rate at 11.4 per 1,000 - a rate similar to France's.

"The Cost of Raising a Child Jumps to $233,610. The cost of raising a child has increased in the last year, according to a report from the Department of Agriculture. For a middle-income family to raise a child born in 2015 through the age of 17, the cost of rearing a child has hit $233,610, according to the report.Jan 9, 2017"

This is NOT with college fees too.

If you factor in pre-school, private schools for some children, and college, that figure could easily double.

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

I know I'd think twice, perhaps three times, before bringing a child into this world. Human beings are a doomed species.

So when birth rates drop and only white immigrants are.allowed in, whose gonna do the work and pay into social security? The Repugnicans aren't thinking straight. Hell, they're not even a political party anymore; they're more like wannabe Overlords.

To bring a child into this this grim world we live in currently.

I know each generation has its own crises to deal with, but with
What is happening now, I'd think twice about subjecting my child
To such a fate. Of course, I am 70 years old, and way past the desire
To have kids now.

I wouldn't want to bring a child into this world where they will be treated like a job stealing foreigners despite being born here in the USA.

Even if my kids have a white mom, they'll probably still be deported the way things are going.
