Manafort Sent to Jail After Judge Cancels House Arrest

Source: Bloomberg

A judge in Washington revoked Manafort’s bail Friday after being told by Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s lawyers that Manafort, Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, attempted to tamper with witnesses for his trial.

Manafort has "abused" the trust placed in him six months ago, the judge said.

Also, I'm sure he's paying close attention to how Trump and his allies are treating Michael Cohen. The balancing act becomes, (1) cooperate with Mueller, and work out a plea deal without jail time, or (2) face two federal trials and if you're found guilty, hope that Donald Trump has your back and pardons you. And we all know how loyalty works in Trump World -- all loyalty flows to Trump, with none flowing the other way.

With witness tampering, which carries a 20 year sentence. Mueller is making a statement, and he'll have hell unleashed on him if he now fires him, or pardons Manafort. Waiting for trump now to attack the judge and the justice system because it didn't serve him what he wanted and bow down to him . Manafort knows in jail he could be in great danger unless confined, and he'll flip. trump will flood the airwaves along with his minions trying to change this news cycle. They're criminals ,very corrupt criminals, and either they escape justice and are above the rule of law, or they have to face the same justice system as everyone else does, which is what they're desperately trying to do now.

I think M will plea to a lesser charge, in exchange for helping prosecutors (fed. and / or state), to which pres. pardons don't apply to state crimes.

What is interesting is that these guys are being offered pleas (and taking them for most part) by Mueller, who has some ultimate goal in mind, which we don't know of yet (there is a long term goal here), otherwise, why offer pleas?

Something else is out there, basically (to which I think we all know).

If he gets a pardon he can no longer invoke his right to not incriminate himself and must tell everything and if he lies goes back to jail.

Pardons have their own set of problems. Trump wants to give the illusion that he will give pardons but doesn't want to actually use them because the recipient has no reason to shut up.

The question is will he be able to resist waiting until Manafort is actually convicted first or just do in now to avoid jail for his partner in crime at all.

The real unanswered question is how many of Trump's deplorables will continue to follow him once he starts. How many will cheer him on as fighting the REAL corruption in the FBI and the evil Deep State.

But either way, I think just the act of being sent to jail may just wake up a few on the fringes of Trumpland. Whether Donnie steps in to free him or not. Those who have been hearing ad nauseum about "witchhunt' and "they have nothing". It won't get the die hard zombies that think the whole justice department is working for some deep state Democratic controlled secret society, but a jail sentence will be seen as a significant step to some.
