Metro: Man barricaded inside vehicle at Hoover Dam bridge

LAS VEGAS - Numerous law enforcement units from Nevada and Arizona have responded to the Hoover Dam where a possibly armed man is barricaded inside what appears to be an armored vehicle.

The U.S. 93 Highway is closed to traffic at the Mike O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge between Nevada and Arizona. Traffic lanes are closed in both directions and the bridge has been evacuated.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol, the man stopped the truck and blocked travel lanes on US 93 at the bridge just before noon. Since then, he has been moving the vehicle at slow speeds along the bridge. Authorities have not been able to confirm if he has a weapon. Witnesses have told 8 News NOW that the man has held up some signs with messages to the president.

"Obviously when we have a barricade subject we don't know what's on the subject's mind," said NHP Trooper Jason Buratczuk. "We want to keep him closed off so he can't do any harm to anyone."

A man was taken into custody today after blocking the Hoover Dam bypass bridge with what appeared to be a homemade armored truck, authorities said.

LAS VEGAS -- A man who police say barricaded himself inside a vehicle and blocked traffic along the Hoover Dam bridge has been taken into custody, reports CBS affiliate KLAS. Initial reports indicated the man had a gun, but police haven't confirmed he was armed.
