(60,320 posts)Proper record keeping?
Trump regime is fascist but incompetent at even that. Fascism is known for meticulous record keeping.

(554 posts)To the deliberately obtuse, no explanation will suffice. To the wise, no explanation is necessary.
It is left to the reader to decide which he/she is.

(554 posts)The deliberately obtuse will completely ignore that this story happened under the president we liked. The wise already know it.
Does that help?
Bernardo de La Paz
(60,320 posts)Further, obviously you class yourself as "wise". How convenient for you.
It is extremely rude of you to assume that readers who are not as "wise" as you are thereby deliberately obtuse.
The excerpt gives no clue as to the date. So you should have explained your point.
The article is very vague about dates and chronology. So you should have explained your point.
It is not definitive from the article that it occurred in Obama's era or that it did not overlap into the Trump era, especially since there is reference to Trump's stalking horse: MS-13. Since you are so wise you should have explained your outside information that makes you so utterly confident.
Sailor65x1
(554 posts)Pretty definitively, so yeah, I guess that would make one confident?
Here's the point; way back when (And well prior to this incident), a lot of us were already trying to stop this sort of thing. Those who have only found the desire to do so now, because the regime has changed, can't understand why the rest of us find their words worthless and hollow.
Bernardo de La Paz
(60,320 posts)Further, you are assuming that they never had any interest in stopping this kind of abuse. That is as bogus as a lot of your reasoning in this thread, as bogus as the false dichotomy fallacy you fell prey to.
You are very eager to write off the words of large numbers of DU members and progressives. Why are you here?

(554 posts)I'm writing off their choice of timing
As I said to another poster, imagine how different things could be if all this anger appeared way back when it wasn't too late? "Progressives", my hairy butt. Progressives were already opposing all this. These new heralds? Not so much.

(60,320 posts)2015 is mentioned precisely once in the article.
After stops at facilities in Texas and New York, he was transferred to Shenandoah in April 2016
That's when he arrived. It does not say when the abuse occurred.
In any case, see post #18 regarding your assumptions about the criticality of the dates and the motives of progressives.

(24 posts)"he was transferred to Shenandoah in April 2016 and diagnosed during an initial screening by a psychologist with three mental disorders, including depression. Besides weekly sessions speaking with a counselor, the lawsuit alleges the teen has received no further mental health treatment, such as medications that might help regulate his moods and behavior."

(14,689 posts)They have no one to speak for them. Crying children will get attention. These falsely accused of being gang members and treated like criminals may never see the light of day again.
seriously, how many actual working MS-13 gang members would voluntarily be starved and exhausted, walking thousands of miles, running over the border to what?...fulfill some order from their boss back in El Salvador? If there were any with MS-13 tattoos etc..they probably were forced into a gang and want to get away. Maybe even the rest of their family has been murdered.
Sure there may be a certain, tiny, percent of bad hombres in the mix, bent on violence and lawlessness no matter where they land, but most of these poor young people just want to start a new life in the Greatest Democracy in the World.
