Trump makes clear Roe v. Wade is on the chopping block

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by DonViejo (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: Washington Post

Anyone promising that Roe v. Wade will be overturned by President Trump's next Supreme Court justice is engaging in guesswork — and, in many cases, political advocacy. Abortion rights supporters are understandably concerned about nullifying one of the court's most prominent and passion-inducing precedents, yes, but we don't even have a nominee yet. This also happens to be a great way to rally the troops.

All of that said, they have clear — and increasing — reason for concern.

In an interview with Fox airing Sunday and Monday, Trump doubled down on his past rhetoric about sending the issue of abortion to the states, which is another way of saying overturning Roe. (Roe legalized abortion nationwide, meaning its repeal would allow states to decide the issue.) Trump said he would “probably not” ask potential nominees directly about Roe — given that such litmus tests are frowned upon — but then he reiterated his past view of how this issue would play out.

“Maybe someday it will be to the states,” he said. “You never know how that’s going to turn out. That’s a very complex question. The Roe v. Wade is probably the one that people are talking about in terms of having an effect, but we’ll see what happens. But it could very well end up with states at some point.”

Fuck you Trump, and anyone who abides you and your ignorant ways.

I will never stop defending a woman's right to control their own body and their reproductive rights. The back alleys are going to stay empty, even if I have to start setting up interstate taxi services to allow women in Red State hell to exercise their rights. We are NOT going backwards, no matter how many freeze-dried, soulless asshats stack the SCOTUS, ever!

she would not vote confirmation for anyway who wanted to over turn Roe was blatantly disingenuous

No SC justice up for nomination would ever admit that, and she knows perfectly well that is the case

Tax reductions for the rich, etc. At first she says she is against it, then when they need her vote, she manages to magically reconsider.

Spanky doesn't give a shit about overturning Roe, in fact it's highly likely that he paid for a mistress to have an abortion. All he gives a shit about on this issue is that it stirs up his base and will get them to the voting booth.

The MSM (and Senators like Collins) are fantasizing that there is even a possibility that Trump (via the Koch generated list) will nominate anyone. But these are all RW zealots/pedants,by definition a Forced Birthers. She doesn't need to rely on nominee testimony in the Senate, these nominees antiwomen ideologigies are already evident. All nominees on The Kochian Federalist/Heritage List had to have already demonstrated a antiwomen, antiunion, antidemocracy profile To Get On The List!

This is the same RW Extremist Koch machine that has produced all the RW federal judges that have been sailing through with the whole Repub Senate riubberstamp. Curious that NOW it's a "mystery" what the politics of its Supreme Court nominee might be?
Same extremist politics just with an Ivy League Law degree to earn the higher throne.

... That same theory can be flipped on its head, and you can compel a person TO NOT HAVE A CHILD.

So fuck yeah, kill Roe v Wade, wait ten years for the knuckledraggers to OD on all the heroin they're about to get hooked on, and then find a way to make every child born in a hospital reversibly sterile from birth.
