Trump Claims He Has Higher Republican Poll Numbers Than Lincoln And Reagan

President Trump has claimed to have higher poll numbers than popular Republican figures Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan.

He tweeted Sunday morning: “Wow, highest Poll Numbers in the history of the Republican Party. That includes Honest Abe Lincoln and Ronald Reagan. There must be something wrong, please recheck that poll!”

Gallup points out in its own analysis: “Throughout his term, Trump’s job approval ratings have ranked well below those of other presidents at similar points in their presidencies.” There was no approval polling in Lincoln's era; presidential polling didn't start until Pres. Truman.

FiveThirtyEight has the average at 41.4.

The problem was that they were running old IBM main frame computers* and everybody
had land lines then so the troops fighting in the civil war were not accurately sampled.
