Apple becomes first trillion dollar company

Source: Axios

Apple became the first-ever U.S. company to have its market cap his $1 trillion on Thursday. It’s a largely symbolic milestone, but also a reminder that between its giant market cap and massive cash holdings, Apple could buy almost anything it wants.

Apple has been doing this for years, but according to new documents released on Monday as part of the massive cache of secret corporate records called the Paradise Papers analyzed by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and its partner media organizations, the California-based tech giant has taken great lengths to continue its practice of tax dodging, including moving its cash to the island of Jersey, despite attempts by regulators to rein the company in.

Personally I could care less about US monopolies other than so much wealth held by one company is detrimental to the overall economy. Not paying taxes=corporate welfare

And the monitors too. HP printers? I haven't checked, but I don't think they're from the US.

Full disclosure: AAPL shareholder, but not from waaaaaay back.

As a long time Apple user/owner and stockholder I get sick and tired of seeing comments like this. You imply that Apple is the ONLY corporation out there who has used Chinese produced products. What China and her companies do behind their borders is not always on prominent display. Granted, when the information came out Apple (and all the other corporations) SHOULD have immediately moved to have it stopped. But to diss Apple like you just did is horse pucky.

Plus GE employs 220,000 people in the US. Apple has less than 47,000 world-wide. GE doesn't have a delusional fan base promoting their every move and pretending they are the all-loving father-figure with religious fervor.

Apple is a huge drain on the US, but they are just as bad as other multi-national corporations. Stop your Apple worship, it is unseemly.
