Allen, who owns the Seattle Seahawks and the Portland Trail Blazers, donated to Protect the House, a joint fundraising committee that then divvied up the funds to several candidates and political action committees. Some $33,900 of Allens donation went to the National Republican Campaign Committee, $5,000 to a PAC launched by Vice President Mike Pence and nearly a dozen congressional Republicans received $2,600.
Allen, who was honored last year at an environment and sustainability gala, is now showing significant support for the only significant climate-science-denying party in the world.
Protect the House, which has raised more than $13.7 million this election cycle, is headed by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and has attracted several notable donors in recent months. Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk gave the group $38,900 earlier this year, drawing ire from many who accused the billionaire of being a GOP mega-donor, despite his protestations. Other donors to the group include business magnate Sheldon Adelson and the owner of the Houston Texans, Robert McNair. Both gave $371,500.

(3,514 posts)makes you greedy.
I'm sure he'd say, "I have to donate to all politicians so I can lobby them." Yes, and that's what Henry Ford and Prescot Bush said about Hitler and the Third Reich.
Paul Allen has been a favored son in Seattle for many years. I bet that is about to come to an end. And, I can't say I'm sorry to hear it.
You can do good things your whole life and then make one mistake. If that mistake is big enough, it will outweigh all the good.
I look forward to the inevitable PURGE that lies ahead when all the fascists and their allies will have to atone or abandon their place in society. It can't come fast enough.

Putin wants a world where money _is_ a measure of power. The GOP share that dream because they are confidant they will still be needed. They can't imagine being amongst the expendable peasants chained to the machines or choking in the results of pollution for profit.

(19,200 posts)"captains of industry" support the GOP for one reason: Greed. The GOP will, almost without exception, cut their taxes way down low. There's a dire need for these people to add a second or third jet to their private air squadron, or to buy another mansion in a country and place that doesn't allow the poor to enter their field of vision.
Elon Musk - Mr. height of hypocrisy - building cars that will help protect the environment then contributing to the party that's waged war on that same environment. And these people are lining up (and paying hundreds of millions) to be the first space "tourists".
These people probably don't even see how hypocritical they're being. Their egos make them blind.

(6,019 posts)Talk about polar opposites. One does oodles of altruistic things. The other feels the constant need to show off his wealth and supposed importance to the world.
Plus, hes a tremendously cheap fuck. Maher have a million dollars to get the house back... a stunningly larger portion of his income.

(981 posts)I've been MicroCrap free since 2008. I worked as an IT professional at a big company, and was so sick of fixing people's broken/hacked/infected operating systems. I didn't want to have to deal with this at my house. AMD 8 core with 12TB RAID 5 plus SSD for OS - kick ass system.
