Dick Cheney: 'I disagree with' how Trump 'describes our Mexican neighbors'
Source: The Hill
Former Vice President Dick Cheney on Friday took aim at President Trump in an event in Mexico City, telling a crowd at an annual political and cultural event that he disagrees with the president's rhetoric on Mexican immigrants.
In an interview at Mexico Siglo XXI, Cheney said that he thinks Trump was "wrong" in 2015 to say that Mexico doesn't send "their best" to immigrate into the U.S.

I disagree with @realDonaldTrump on how he describes our Mexican neighbors," Cheney responded on Friday, according to an attendee on Twitter.
"I live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where one-third of our children are Hispanic," the former vice president continued. "I think he is wrong!

(8,200 posts)Sorry, but I believe that the Obama administration should have conducted comprehensive hearing on the manufacturing of intelligence that took our nation to war against Iraq. Bush, Cheney and the entirety of the PNAC neo-cons should have been held accountable for the deaths of over 5,000 of our faithful troops and the ten of thousands that will never recover from their injuries and the outright slaughter of thousands of Iraq citizens. The failure to do so allows scum bags like Bolton to once again feast at the government trough instead of breaking rocks.

(1,414 posts)Yeah, I know. We may not much care for Mr. Cheney, but this is meaningful. I personally will thank the former Vice President while definitely not forgiving his sins.

(6,045 posts)Never had issues with Mexico or Mexicans...Remember Bush was going to sign that bi-partisan comprehensive immigration bill that so many moderates on both sides worked on for so long & then the racist wing of the GOP along with Conservative Media scared enough Republicans with the threat of being labeled a RINO & That was that!
They love the FEAR of being able to use the immigration BS at every election.

(6,045 posts)The GOP VOTERS on the orders of Conservative Media voted almost all those Republicans out who were willing to pass immigration reform back then anyway...So they lost their seat for nothing.

(6,045 posts)But looking back, correct me if Im wrong, Mexico/Mexicans was one of the few people Bush/Cheney really didnt fuck with...It was all the other brown people. I think both are connected to the culture via family I know the Bushs are.
I still dont like Darth Vader...Especially the way he came out LYING about Obamas policies & how he was going to get 1000s more Americans killed! FUCK HIM!

(41,101 posts)CheneyCo had the know-how and discipline to get horrifically big things done. Think of all the heavy lifting they did to sell that POS war; the intimidation of the intelligence and defense establishments, the daily manipulation of the press and public opinion, all building up to a bipartisan win on IWR. That took months of single-mindedness. Trump could never pull that off. Anyway, he was a hawk and thats where his heart was. He wasnt going to go out of his way to spew hatred about specific groups and he was actually way ahead of most people, including liberal Democrats, on gay marriage.
On the other hand, Trump caters to the worst instincts of huge segments of the country on pretty much a daily basis, which I think is far worse because his followers have become personally invested in a much deeper way than were the supporters of the Iraq war. Its wingnut identity politics on a much bigger scale than Bush and Cheney, who pushed the fear angle to get what they wanted and, as you note, Darth continued to do so with Obama. You could argue Cheney was worse for the world and Trump is worse for America. Anyway, name your poison with the Rs.

(14,689 posts)Now even Dick fucking Cheney is dusted off and elevated into some kind of decent honorable person.....BECAUSE HE HAS WHAT SHOULD BE A NORMAL VIEW TOWARDS MEXICANS?
I hate the effect that Trump is having. The effect of resetting the narrative, which the MSM will be all too happy to encourage so they can get back to their 'normal' of false equivalencies, that its all Donald's fault. That every single other Republican will be compared to him, and come out, guess what?, with flying colours! EVEN DICK FUCKWAD!
And us bleeding heart liberals fall for it every time. Ooooo they DON'T have a (public at least) racist attitude to Mexicans!
