Eleventh-hour campaign mailings from the New York State Democratic Committee imply Cynthia Nixon is anti-Semitic — prompting an online maelstrom of outrage and denials Saturday night, with Gov. Cuomo and the state party calling the mailer a “mistake.”

“With anti-Semitism and bigotry on the rise, we can’t take a chance with inexperienced Cynthia Nixon,” reads the mailer, which says it was paid for by the New York State Democratic Committee.

Cuomo spokeswoman Lis Smith tweeted at 5:30 p.m. that the governor “didn’t approve of or have any knowledge of the mailer.”

Soon afterward, the committee’s executive director, Geoff Berman, tweeted that the mailer was “a mistake and is inappropriate.”

(CNN)New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday denied any prior knowledge of a mailing sent by state Democrats suggesting his primary challenger, Cynthia Nixon, would not support Jewish communities in the face of anti-Semitism.

The New York State Democratic Committee, which is effectively controlled by the two-term governor, paid for the flier, which falsely claimed Nixon supports the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement, which aims to pressure Israel over its treatment of Palestinians, and accused her of being "silent on the rise of anti-Semitism."

Nixon, who condemned "the rising hate crimes we are seeing against Muslims, Jews and many other communities" as recently as late August, slammed the mailing in a statement on Sunday, calling it "an attack not only on my children and my character, but on all New Yorkers."

"The accusation that my family promotes anti-Semitism is deeply, deeply offensive," said Nixon, who is raising her two older children in the Jewish faith and attends a New York City synagogue.

She then turned her attention to Cuomo and the state party, accusing them of employing "Trump-style divide and conquer tactics."

9. Gov Cuomo gets endorsement of nation's largest gun control group

Gov. Cuomo’s reelection bid got a boost Saturday from the nation’s largest gun control group.

Everytown for Gun Safety endorsed Cuomo during a campaign event on Long Island.

He was also endorsed by the father of a Parkland student killed in February.

Fred Guttenberg, who attempted to shake the hand of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, this week said reducing gun violence should be on everyone’s minds when they go to vote in coming weeks.

“This vote this year is everything on this issue,” Guttenberg said at the rally.

Andrew Cuomo IS the New York State Democratic Committee. There has not been an independent entity in years. Nobody would have drafted, printed and mailed this flyer without his knowledge.

As for gun control, I respect his position. It says nothing about his political behavior.
