Susan Collins 'appalled' by Trump's tweet about Christine Blasey Ford
Source: CNN
Washington (CNN)Sen. Susan Collins said she is "appalled" by a tweet from President Donald Trump disparaging the woman who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault.
The Maine Republican called the statement from the President "inappropriate and wrong."
"I was appalled by the President's tweet," Collins said Friday, according to audio obtained by CNN of an event where she spoke with local reporters.
The senator, who is a crucial swing vote on Kavanaugh's nomination, was responding to a question on what she thought of a tweet from the President suggesting that Christine Blasey Ford should have come forward with her allegation against Kavanaugh earlier.

At the end of the day, despite all of her posturing, Susan Collins will vote with Trump. Don't fall for this "moderate" Republican sham. Susan Collins will ultimately fall in line and will be the point person to give all of her white male Republican colleagues cover to victim blame and to give Republicans the votes they need on the Court to overturn Roe v. Wade.

(3,750 posts)Oh no, far worse then insulting her appearance. He tweeted that if the sexual assault was as horrible as described then surely she would have filed a police report. Then he challenged her to produce such a report.
He just basically spit on all victims of assault who kept quiet about their trauma rather then going to the police.

(5,154 posts)She can hold up the vote and insist the Prof Ford is treated with respect. Instead, as always, she wants to eat her cake and say how shameful it is too.

One question that I ask "pro-lifers" that none can answer. I ask, why is it that countries that outlawed abortion are ranked the highest in abortion? I ask, wouldn't it be a better idea to attack unwanted pregnancies in other ways, like sex education, available contraception, easier means for adoption? No one can answer my question.

Yes, Susan, I am appalled at your actions as a woman.
