HOUSTON -- Anita Hill says one of the things that stood out to her from Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's hearing was how his emotional and angry testimony compared to the calm testimony of the woman accusing him of sexual assault.
Hill gave Senate testimony in 1991 about her allegations of sexual harassment by then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas. Hill spoke Friday at the Grace Hopper Celebration, a gathering of women technologists in Houston, one day after Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Ford, a California psychology professor, has accused Kavanaugh of pinning her in a locked room at a party and trying to assault her more than three decades ago, when they were in high school. Kavanaugh forcefully denied the allegations and accused Democrats of trying to smear him.
Hill noted that during Thursday's hearing, Kavanaugh "was able to express a real anger, an aggression, as well as a lot of emotion." No female Supreme Court candidate, she said, "would ever have the license to express (herself) in that way."...More...

"We still have so far to go in terms of the power that he had and the license that he had ... to cry or to be angry," she said.
Also, Hill says she was impressed with Ford's demeanor and her careful responses to questions. She said she recognized Ford's fear but also her openness to "share it in a setting where she didn't want to be

(38,858 posts)I think he was coached that an innocent man would be extremely indignant and angry, and Trump (and possibly others) told him the more extreme, the better to convince everyone of his innocence.
Wrong.

(31,237 posts)it seemed at least partly scripted, not really genuine at all. I can see being angry but he went way too far.

(13,560 posts)the kind of man who carefully maintains an image of a fine, upstanding man in public and then goes home to punch his wife because she made meatloaf instead of chicken for dinner so its all her fault that hes angry and had to hit her. If his anger was not an act, then that display of anger and emotion about being questioned should have eliminated him instantly. He obviously does not have good judgment.

I've also noticed his wife, in both this hearing, and clips of his other hearings, looks exactly the same. Like she's wearing an emotionless mask.....

(42,384 posts)Cheeto watched Kav whining and sniveling on TV, and told him to "man up" and "start yelling at them." Somehow he got a private text or tweet to Graham and Kavanaugh, because the sniveling stopped immediately. Also the other Repukes jumped in and piled on right away. We all saw it happen and we were all WTF??!
Kavanaugh and Graham started ranting like Cheeto would have, if he'd been there.
