Police and State’s Attorney response to Montgomery County House Delegation’s request to open criminal investigation against Judge Brett Kavanaugh

Exerpt:

To date, there have been no criminal reports filed with the Montgomery County Department of Police that would lead to the initiation of any criminal investigation related to Judge Kavanaugh. Furthermore, the law at the time the offense occurred is the law that must be applied to any charges that might be brought. For example, in 1982, assault and attempted rape were both misdemeanors and subject to a one-year statute of limitations. The Montgomery County Police Department and the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office stand ready to investigate any sexual assault allegation from any victim where the incident occurred in our jurisdiction.

And had only a 1 year Statute of Limitations?

No wonder those boys thought they could get away with it!

Sickening.

That by no means implies that it is time to stop fighting, but progress is being made. Not nearly as fast or as far as we would like, but things are finally getting into the mainstream and women are realizing that they can be a force to be reckoned with. We still have a long way to go, just as we have a long way to go with race, sexual identity, and other areas where we still need to fight for equality under the law, to where we can truly say that we all honestly believe that ALL humans are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights.

We have won a battle today in forcing Congress to force the pResident to open an FBI investigation. But it is only a battle in a long, long struggle. So take heart, have hope, see that together we are making a change, and, in the old, old phrase that I remember from High School: Illegitimi non carborundum, and in the anthem from the 60's, We SHALL Overcome!
