CNN founder Ted Turner says his former network now focuses "too much" on politics, and that he wishes the company would strive for more "balanced" programming between politics and other news.
In an interview with "CBS Sunday Morning," Turner told veteran anchor Ted Koppel that he rarely follows the news, and only watches his former news channel occasionally.
I think theyre sticking with politics a little too much, he told Koppel. "They'd do better to have a more balanced agenda."
"But that's, you know, just one person's opinion," he added.

(20,872 posts)I wonder what he suggests. Can the network do a story on climate change and leave the politics out? Should they? How about race, gender equality or infrastructure?
The only thing that doesn't revolve around politics would be sports and Hollywood, and even then...

(1,222 posts)Because we are fed our news through such a narrow lens we can begin to think that only what the camera is directed toward is what exists.
After weeks of consuming cable news almost non-stop, today I took a trip to the dentist and had NPR on in the car. Listening to the BBC feed was eye-opening. Daily, there are thousands more news stories that US politics have no part of, like many international stories about things happening in the world from disasters to achievements to other changes that we'd be wiser to know.
Luckily the dorks at the Capitol have no say over much of what goes on in the rest of the world.

I think he also said that at one time he considered running for President - when he was married to Jane Fonda.
She nixed the idea.
