LAX airport to allow marijuana in carry-ons

Source: CNN

Lilit Marcus, CNN • Published 1st October 2018

(CNN) — Los Angeles International Airport, better known as LAX, has announced that it will permit travelers to bring small amounts of legal marijuana through security in their carry-on bags. But wait: That doesn't mean you can toke up at the airport.

Pot is legal in several US states, but not on the federal level, so you still need to study up before packing your bags on your way out of LA.

In 2016, California passed Proposition 64, aka the Adult Use of Marijuana Act. The passing of this proposition means that as of of January 1, 2018, it is legal in California "for individuals 21 years of age or older to possess up to 28.5 grams of marijuana and 8 grams of concentrated marijuana for personal consumption."

LAX is honoring the same regulations in the airport, allowing travelers over the age of 21 to enter the airport and pass through security with the permitted amounts of marijuana.

If the pot-hating troll, Sessions were not so obsessed with ripping infants and children from their immigrant parents, he'd likely be setting up airport "traps" as we "speak".

99% of the time you will just walk right out of the facility upon arrival without security clearance measures required.

Doesn’t mean it’s failsafe; however most likely the majority will travel without incident.

And I live in a state where pot is legal. Of course our surrounding states (e.g., NB,WY, KS where pot is illegal) even tried to sue COLORADO for those who cross into their states with pot in the car, so...

But NB,KS, WY have simply focused on road traps at the borders. And I am quite sure they have no compunction about using drug dogs in the airports if they think they can catch arriving passengers carrying it. Their attitudes are just that nuts.

Since you don't pass thru a formal checkpoint leaving the airport, I was wondering if they would flag your name in the TSA database.

I still can't believe I read that article correctly. Had to check that it was not really from The Onion.

I forwarded to my friend who is going to Boston from LAX on Wednesday, and taking cartridges with a vape pen, and is normally a little bit concerned about traveling with any pot. It's completely legal in MA, so clearly she doesn't have to worry.

I met a man last week in a waiting room and he told me that he smokes for PTSD and a relative who had visited him brought back a small amount to Texas and is now in jail for 6 months.

But regardless of LAPD allowing people to carry marijuana don't you also have to go through a TSA checkpoint before boarding?
