Rudy Giuliani Touts Call to Freeze Assets of 'Anti-Christ' George Soros

President Donald Trumps lawyer Rudy Giuliani retweeted a call to freeze the assets of billionaire investor George Soros on Saturday.
Giulianis tweet comes as Trump perhaps inspired by Fox News host Maria Bartiromo promotes the conspiracy theory that anti-Brett Kavanaugh protestors are paid operatives of Soros, a longtime boogeyman of right wing conspiracists.
Follow the money. I think Soros is the anti-Christ! He must go! Freeze his assets & I bet the protests stop, Twitter user Dee Thompson wrote in a post retweeted by the presidents lawyer.

On Friday, Trump tweeted that the sexual assault victims that confronted Sen. Jeff Flake this week were paid professionals funded by Soros. Theres no evidence that Soros, a Democratic donor, paid for the protestors signs. As NBC News reported, one of the protestors works for the Center for Popular Democracy, which gets some of its funding from the Open Society Foundation, which is, in turn, backed by Soros.
Much of the conspiracy theorizing about Soros, a Holocaust survivor, is rooted in anti-Semitism.

(4,066 posts)I though the same thing you did. With the report from the NY Times his assets should be frozen by the state of NY.
I hope after the mid-terms there can be some investigations about this.

(15,696 posts)Could be the reason Mueller has turned several cases over to individual states. No fed charges means no double jeopardy, and Trump can't pardon state charges.

(12,618 posts)And gives to Dems. Republicans feel as though God granted them the right to all billionaires. And of course it's okay when the Kocks give to the right and practically fund the Tea Party. But not okay that Soros gives to the left.

(12,618 posts)He has personally funded every left wing protest that ever happened, every left wing movement that ever happened, every liberal that's ever run for office, and every conservative scandal that has ever happened has been because of him.
I know, because Jesus and Alex Jones told me so.

(12,618 posts)I'm well aware that in the grand scheme of things, Soros is relatively insignificant. I'm just poking fun at conservatives who always accuse him of being this bogeyman mastermind behind every left wing event or right wing mishap that's ever happened.

(14,689 posts)He sets a dangerous precedent as well. Billionaires are supposed to be greedy, corruptible, and focused 24/7 on making more money. And if they want to spend any of their cash on political causes, it must go to them. (And in turn they will help them make more by reducing their taxes and regulations) Or they will surround and isolate the usurper and create a monster out of him.
Especially when a billionaire doesn't just limit his funding to Democrats. D's do get corporate cash from others. He funds movements outside of that in the global arena. Its that he is also passionate about spreading democracy around the world. He funds causes that forward those goals. He is so hated because he is the financial backing to many democracy pushers in countries that don't have it. Countries that many wealthy Republicans and their peers have investments in, and count on continued governance by authoritarian regimes to keep the underpaid workers in line, so as not to mess with the gravy train. That's the real reason they hate him so much.

(43,307 posts)We can laugh and chortle at Rudys musings, but my Grandfathers assets were confiscated by the Third Reich. The last of his belongings were stolen by Mussolini as he was fleeing Germany after bribing his way out of Germany through Italy. This is dangerous shit.

(34,189 posts)That means that private groups, including any funded by George Soros, have free speech rights just like individuals and can give money to ANY group they want for political purposes.
Eat shit and die, Republicans! Liberal organizations got those rights when the right wing nut job groups won them in the Supreme Court!

(1 post)How silly is Giuliani, if My memory serves, and it usually does when it comes to shady figures and fraudulent human beings then I would check every word that comes out of Giuliani's mouth. Giuliani was a giant failure as the Mayor of New York City on September 11, 2001. His inept ability to listen to the FBI, FDNY and NYPD, and other agencies that warned him not to place the Emergency Operations Command Center in the 7 WTC Building were blatantly ignored and on that tragic day, Giuliani ran around like a chicken with his head lopped off. There was NO EOCC for the Police, Fire and Emergency services to operate due to Rudi's lack of common sense.
He also rerouted funds that went to the victims Widow and Children's fund to his political cronies, if that doesn't speak volumes of his character, I do not know what does!
Rudi is the gift from the Republican party that keeps on giving, In the mid 2000s Perdue Pharma hired Rudi Giuliani
to head a Federal investigation into the marketing of the powerful painkiller Oxycontin which has taken
hundreds of thousands of lives.
He failed to prevent the criminal conviction of Perdue Pharma's fraudulent claims that Oxycontin was safe and effective,
He did reach a deal to avoid a ban on Purdue from doing business with the Federal Government, which would have killed a large
part of the multi billion dollar market for the drug.
He also secured an agreement that greatly restricted further prosecution of the pharmaceutical company
and kept its senior executives out of prison.
No wonder Trump hired him.
