Joe Biden in Tampa says it's not a time to joke: 'We're in the battle for the soul of America'

Source: Tampa Bay Times

TAMPA — As vice president, Joe Biden leaned in to the goofy "Uncle Joe" caricature of memes and satirical news stories. He wore aviators for the cameras while eating ice cream, and pointed and grinned behind President Barack Obama during nationally televised speeches.

But at a Democratic campaign rally Monday at the University of South Florida, the audience saw a different side of Biden. "Listen," he said over and over when the crowd wanted to laugh or cheer. "This is not a joke."

"I think there's something different about this election," Biden said. "This election is bigger than politics. For real. This goes well beyond."

This is the message Democrats in Florida led with on the first day of early voting in one of the key battleground states of these midterms, and they enlisted one of the party's most recognizable national figures to deliver it.

You are equating Joe Biden with Trump.
This isn’t about Biden or any other Democrat.
It’s about taking toddlers from their parents and putting them in cages. It’s about putting political hacks on the Supreme Court that will take away the rights of white and POC women, poor men and women, and especially POC. It’s about total corruption.
Its about a President who is selling out our country to Russia.
When I was young, we were told that the Russians would take over from the inside. I never thought that a whole political party and the President would betray our country

...i was merely thinking out loud about how it seems the only voices we're hearing on "big" issues such as those you've described is Trump, Biden, and Sanders. It seems everything is coalescing to an eventuality of having to chose between Biden and Sanders to face Trump. I hope others speak up and do so quickly. My apologies if I offended you. It certainly wasn't my intention.

about the battle we are in and learn to vote in every election as if it is their duty to save the soul of America as they think it should be because if we do not persevere in this battle we will lose and America may never be the same again.

every sensible American at voting age, Republican, Democrat or independent, needs to get out and vote - and to vote DEMOCRATIC - so there is a check and balance restored to the powers of Congress. We cannot have all the levers of power being controlled by crooked, unconscientious people who do not reflect the values of majority of Americans.
