BUSTED: Fox News forced to apologize after using photo of Kamala Harris to depict a murder suspect

Fox News on Tuesday was forced to issue a correction and apology after it used a photograph of Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) to depict a murder suspect in Utah.

While reporting on a shooting at the University of Utah that left one female student dead, Fox News informed viewers that the suspected shooter, a registered sex offender named Melvin Rowland, had already been found dead in a Salt Lake City church after being chased there by police.

Instead of showing Rowland’s mugshot, however, they flashed a picture of Harris up on the screen.

Shortly after the report aired, Fox News’ Jillian Mele went on air to issue a formal correction for making it look like Harris was suspected of killing a college student:

“In an earlier version of this story, we showed you the wrong video,” she admitted. “We showed you pictures of Sen. Kamala Harris instead of Melvin Rowland’s mugshot. We apologize for that error.”
