Mattis expected to send 800 more troops to southern border

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)Defense Secretary James Mattis is expected to sign deployment orders as soon as Thursday that could send 800 or more troops to the border with Mexico to help border patrol authorities stop a caravan of migrants from Central America moving through Mexico to enter the US, according to three administration officials.

The officials tell CNN final details are being worked out including where the troops will come from and their specific tasks.

It is not yet clear if all or part of the new deployment will be federally activated National Guard forces or active duty troops.

The troops will not engage in lethal operations to stop the migrants. Instead they are expected to provide fencing, wall materials and other technical support at several key points along the border where it is believed the migrants may try to cross.

2. Can't we just substitute the word ebola for caravan? It is about selling fear before an election.

BTW last time I checked the caravan was 1,200 miles south of the border.

Of course, Trump will let his dumbass deplorables go on believing that he's sending troops to a human shooting gallery.

such as policing, and so it would prevent them from shooting or detaining people, even brown people south of the border (no authority to enforce laws).

Stand around and do nothing. They get paid extra for food and hotel rooms,if necessary.

However, racist republicans think this mean something. Another expensive tax payer waste of funding but for some reason, they think it makes us safer. It just makes us financially poorer. Won't even get more votes, because these racist republican voters were going to vote anyway.

Active duty military people, besides extra money for the up coming holidays or party time, probably think this is stupid. If they shoot or touch anyone, they could be Court Marshall.
