Election commission ordered to let voters correct applications, vote normally on Election Day

Chancellor JoeDae Jenkins ordered the Shelby County Election Commission to allow people with incomplete voter registration applications to fix any deficiencies and vote regularly on Election Day. Itís a system already being used during early voting, but one the commission has said is unfeasible and even inconsistent with state law.

The ruling also contradicts a letter sent to all county election commissions earlier Thursday, telling them to use provisional ballots for people whose names donít show up on the registration list, including people who submitted incomplete registration forms.

ďThe provisional ballot process applies to any person whose name does not appear on the voter registration list or poll book, regardless of the reason why,Ē wrote Mark Goins, coordinator of elections.

2. This needs to happen in EVERY county

Anybody who shows up on election day should be allowed to vote - period!
