White House says Trumps to go to Pennsylvania on Tuesday

President Trump and first lady Melania Trump will travel to Pennsylvania on Tuesday in the wake of last weekend's mass murder at a Pittsburgh synagogue, the White House announced.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders made the announcement during a lengthy statement during which she became emotional in defending Trump's feelings toward the Jewish community.

"The president cherishes the American Jewish community for everything it stands for," she said. But she also forcefully pushed back against criticism that Trump has not done enough to denounce anti-Semitism and has fueled the toxic political atmosphere with his attacks on his opponents.

Sanders did not explicitly say the president would visit Pittsburgh or the Tree of Life Synagogue.
