President Donald Trump on Wednesday warned that Americans could "lose a lot of money" if Republicans don't do well in next week's midterm elections.

The president, speaking at an event at the White House, said that the U.S. has the "hottest economy right now in the world," but said that the results of the election could hammer the stock market.

"If the midterms for some reason don't do so well for Republicans, I think you're all going to lose a lot of money," he said. "I hate to say that. I think you're going to lose a lot of money."

National Economic Council director Larry Kudlow and adviser Ivanka Trump moderated the event, which was entitled "Our Pledge to America’s Workers."

Since the day he took office , and his policies are driving the economy into a recession right now. Look at how many from their tax scam bill passed have lost their health care, or his constant undermining of the ACA from him and the gop costing families huge amounts. . His tax cuts for the rich were the biggest transfer of wealth from the bottom up in our history. When we take back Congress we need to repeal those tax cuts for the rich and do a real middle class tax cut.

Exhibit A: The economy is poised to go into a recession very soon. It's been 10 years since the last crash, which puts us well overdue for another recession. (Thank you Obama for a slow, but prolonged recovery and expansion.)

Exhibit B: Democrats are likely to take over the House, and possibly the Senate (although that's somewhat unlikely).

Exhibit C: Trump frequently speaks like he's talking only to one demographic - older, rich, white men. If that's what he's doing here, then yes, that demographic is likely to not be quite so obscenely well off if Democrats are able to put the brakes on Trump's fleecing of America.

A affects everyone. If B also happens, then Trump will blame it on them. Also if B happens, C is likely to happen, so Trump will again blame Democrats.

Since we're very likely to get a combination, probably all three, during the next two years, Trump will blame the democrats and the voters who put them in charge. He's wrong on the causation, but we have to be vigilant in correcting his misrepresentation of the facts.
