Multiple people shot in downtown Denver

Denver (CNN) At least five people were shot in downtown Denver, according to Denver Health Medical Center spokesman Simon Crittle.

One person was pronounced dead on the scene and at least four others were taken to a hospital, Crittle said.

The shooting occurred near Coors Field on Lawrence and 21st Street.

No information on the suspect was available Monday evening, according to a tweet from the Denver Police Department.

A friend's niece in Ohio told her yesterday that she feels something really BAD is going to happen there (Cincinnati area) because of all of the bad feelings many young thuglican males around her have because Dems won the House. I forget what college this friend's niece goes to, but she's feeling extremely uneasy about the setting she's in, but she has to go to school. In fact, the niece went so far as to stop going to Ohio State college games because people are so nasty and rude to one another up in the stands and even walking into the stadium/tailgating. People shouting MAGA and 4 more years. Some of these right-wingers are SO emboldened by fatso and emboldened to defend him, that they're ready to pop off @ anything someone says that they consider nasty about that fat treasonous, lying America-hating, racist, ignorant asshole.

I thought we crossed this one off our list a couple months ago with the shooting in a downtown bank lobby. Unfortunately, it's hard to argue with your friend's niece regarding the intense young thuglican groups around here. Lots (and lots) of bumper stickers that cause me to keep my distance on the expressway.

12. IMHO, there are 2 overlapping things going on

one I believe is related to a resurgence of drug-related "gang" (no not the MS-13 stuff) activity (turf wars and/or lack of payment by buyers) and the other to what is a boil-over of stress related to this administration, where when a dispute happens people just blow and try to take out everyone around them after getting their original target.

DENVER (Reuters) - A gun battle on a downtown Denver street this week that left one person dead and four wounded stemmed from an exchange of gunfire between two rival gang members, federal prosecutors said on Wednesday.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Monday, gunfire erupted in Denver’s LoDo section, about two blocks from Coors Field, home of Major League Baseball’s Colorado Rockies.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and four people were wounded, including one of the suspected gunmen, with what police said were non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the person killed has not been released, but the local CBS News affiliate, citing anonymous sources, said the individual was a bystander.
