Russians interacted with at least 14 Trump associates during the campaign and transition

The Russian ambassador. A deputy prime minister. A pop star, a weightlifter, a lawyer, a Soviet army veteran with alleged intelligence ties.
Again and again and again, over the course of Donald Trumps 18-month campaign for the presidency, Russian citizens made contact with his closest family and friends, as well as figures on the periphery of his orbit.
Some offered to help his campaign and his real estate business. Some offered dirt on his Democratic opponent. Repeatedly, Russian nationals suggested Trump should hold a peacemaking sit-down with Vladimir Putin and offered to broker such a summit.
In all, Russians interacted with at least 14 Trump associates during the campaign and presidential transition, public records and interviews show. It is extremely unusual, said Michael McFaul, who served as ambassador to Russia under President Barack Obama. Both the number of contacts and the nature of the contacts are extraordinary.

(51,627 posts)I have never heard of so many Russians involved with so many political figures until 2016. All of a sudden it turned out that Russians were involved with tons of people and have been for a few years. Pence's brother (maybe two brothers) have Russian business ties too.

(81,466 posts)If not before. But I remember watching the coverage and commentary and scratching my head: "why are there so many Russians hanging around that convention? They seem to be all over the place, and a few of them are high-ranking (like Sergey Kislyak, for example). And why are there these funky figures with connections to Russia, personal experience with Russia, and links to Ukraine and Russian adjacent (Carter Page, Mike Flynn, Paul Manafort)? Doesn't that seem even just a little bit weird?
In all the convention watching I've done over the years, I can't EVER remember so much Russian-spotting at EITHER Democratic OR republi-CON conventions. This is completely uncharacteristic, from everything I've ever watched or recalled. I remember feeling suspicious because this Just. Did. NOT. Seem. Right.

(11,885 posts)He claims its a witch hunt and a hoax, lol , yet so much is publicly known about all this. His followers much either not be able to read too like him, or just stupid. I think as more is exposed they too will be running from this treasonous and corrupt criminal. He really looks stupid claiming its a witch hunt and a hoax now. trumps probably laughing his ass off at all his followers for believing all this propaganda bs he puts out.
