Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says "no question" Trump is a racist in 60 Minutes interview
Source: CBS News
In a 60 Minutes interview that touched on a number of subjects, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said there's "no question" President Trump is racist. The comment came after correspondent Anderson Cooper asked Ocasio-Cortez, "Do you believe President Trump is a racist?"
"Yeah. Yeah. No question," Ocasio-Cortez replied. The rookie congresswoman cited the president's rhetoric as proof.
"When you look at the words that he uses, which are historic dog whistles of white supremacy," Ocasio-Cortez said. "When you look at how he reacted to the Charlottesville incident, where neo-Nazis murdered a woman, versus how he manufactures crises like immigrants seeking legal refuge on our borders, it's night and day."
"The president certainly didn't invent racism," Ocasio-Cortez said, "But he's certainly given a voice to it and expanded it and created a platform for those things."

Say it like it is and then everyone can deal with the hurt feelings and healing.
Trump is a dumb-ass who's being played by some masters and is destroying this country and probably democracy around the world. Let's keep telling it like we see it.

(10,437 posts)trump and GOP and their RW media attacks her back...its a win win for Pelosi, AOC and the Democrats. Pelosi can say she does NOT run her caucus like a Nazi and her members are free to speak vs the GOP who do NOT allow their people the same.
Its a brilliant tactic if they have thought this out...I hope they did

Now let's play.
AOC-Beto? Or Beto-AOC?
I like the first option, party elders would likely prefer the latter.

But then too young for what, I wonder.
It could just be a simple attempt to plant seeds of doubt using age bias as the primary trigger.
In other words, they are trying to improve the chances of the candie they've already chosen.

(5,092 posts)In '02 I worked on the campaigns of 5 city council members.
At the same time. First campaign, but small town.
That time I had to rely on a cheat sheet I put together to keep track of it all.
4 out of my five won, replacing 4 established council members.
Loved the work.
This is mostly like play for me while I'm waiting for my new driving position
to begin.

(37,648 posts)I have an uneasy feeling that she's headed for a collision. I hope I'm wrong. But the whole nation is fixated on this rep. and giving her an unusual amount of attention. She's inexperienced as a politician. This would be heady for even an experienced politician. I hope she can handle it. It reminds me of a rock star who is newly famous. Sometimes they run off the rails.
Having said that, she seems to say the right things much of the time and handles herself well and with so much confidence. So maybe she's a natural.
