CNNs Michael Smerconish objected to what he called a waste of police resources in the arrest of Patriots owner Bob Kraft for soliciting prostitution.
Kraft was one of many people arrested in what police said was part of a large investigation into sex trafficking.
Smerconish argued today that prostitution should be legalized, adding, No woman should be forced into this line of work, and anyone who would attempt to make them indentured servants should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
But not a 77-year-old guy who lost his wife of 48 years back in 2011, he continued. As it is, and as I tweeted, it represents the largest waste of resources since Jussie Smollett. . . .

It gets WAY worse. You have to read the whole thing. An excerpt:
How do you know theyre voiceless and powerless? Smerconish asked. How do you know they dont choose that life?"
Push back against Smerconish, please.

(6,073 posts)Years of Limpballs and Faux attacking liberals and redefining the center line being the edge of the right shoulder. If T-Rump wins 4 more, he will become a cheerleader as will other never T-Rumpers in the media, or they will be gone. CNN has already hired a T-Rumper as a political editor. I believe it's going to get a lot worse.

(40,003 posts)what he forgets most of these get forced into prostitution in exchange for their passage to the US. He forgets that the traffickers back at home can still shake down the families for money. Ice is spending to much time rounding up children and separating families to be bother with this. Local police are stuck with enforcement, because no matter what he says prostitution attracts other criminal pursuits.

(1,584 posts)This was part of a sex trafficing ring. Feel sorry for the women, not the Johns! Can hardly wait until they finish with the Epstein crap. Notice Trump's face when he is asked a question about it. My push back against Smerconish is to stop listening to his broadcasts. And he seems to be a Trumpian at heart.

Maybe his contract is coming up (note he has been on both CNN & MSNBC and has a show on SirusXM POTUS channel).
Hmmmm... lookee here - his CNN show debuted in 2014, so it's been 5 years next month - https://www.politico.com/story/2014/03/michael-smerconish-cnn-show-104442

(8,200 posts)He declared that he was leaving the Republican Party to become an Independent. This provided him with the advantage to attack Hilary Clinton pulling votes from her to an Independent thereby electing Trump. He has attempted to mitigate the greed of the Republicans at every chance he has. As far as I am concerned he is fork-tongued ass. I don't trust him.

Anything they can't buy outright, they will use clandestine methods to get their way. And, they sure has hell have the money to do it.

(14,781 posts)Smerconish is just spouting libertarian dogma and appears to not have done his homework (perhaps his homework comes from far-right social media).
Counter-points:
1. News sources are saying Kraft has not been arrested but instead "faces charges", see:
https://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/palm-beach/fl-ne-robert-kraft-prostitution-arrest-20190222-story.html
(note the error even here with the web link text - it does not match the headline)
(snip)
Hes being charged with the same offense as the others, and that is soliciting another to commit prostitution, Kerr said at a news conference.
and,
2. Florida investigators have found this to be a wide-spread ring of spas and they're flying these women in from overseas (via New York), most of which don't speak English and by no stretch of imagination have any voice or power. They are essentially slaves.
For those interested in learning more on this huge investigation and bust, look deeper into the Sun Sentinel link above, or go to:

See the article titled Tens of millions of dollars involved in sex spas case" for a good review of this investigation.
(would have posted some excellent snips but I exceeded my limit on page views)
