WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrats in Congress are unveiling a bill to reinstate the landmark net neutrality rules repealed by the Federal Communications Commission under U.S. President Donald Trump, congressional aides said on Wednesday.

The bill will mirror an effort last year to reverse the FCC’s December 2017 order that repealed the rules approved in 2015 that barred providers from blocking or slowing internet content or offering paid “fast lanes.”

The reversal was a win for internet providers like Comcast Corp, AT&T Inc and Verizon Communications Inc, but was opposed by content and social media companies like Facebook Inc, Amazon.com Inc and Alphabet Inc.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Monday that Democrats would push to reinstate the net neutrality rules, but did not disclose the legislative proposal. A press conference is set for later on Wednesday morning on Capitol Hill.

Notice the report talks only about corporate pro and con positions; no mention of the public interest.

the transition to 5G.

Special interests are already claiming that “net neutrality” is incompatible with far more complex systems that must serve many needs.

Nonsense when net neutrality is understood as such things as the rights of the people to use the Internet without business deciding what content will be available to us.

Our ultimate goal as Democrats will of course be for the Internet to become a legal utility that is necessary to and must be available to all.

Restoring net neutrality, as before the Republicans repealed it, will be a simple step once we have the power. But big business and pernicious media know it is a first step to securing the rights and protection of the people with far stronger regulation.

I think what we need is a major poison pill bill for the Repugnants.
For example how about a bill that raises the tax on anyone who's ultra-wealthy however it also includes a massive reduction for Planned Parenthood? The catch is it also includes extra spending and I mean a lot of extra spending for programs to educate and provide things like condoms for free too students in high school as well as clinics to provide birth control to young girls.
I grant you it's not perfect and I don't like the cut to Planned Parenthood however it would have the advantage putting the Repugnants in a tight spot that they would have to find a way to wiggle out of.
Either they support the increase and get what they wanted with Planned Parenthood or they refuse and then if we are careful we can use it against them later on.
