(25,479 posts)I've actually believed that about as long as he's been president. I think he does some of these things testing just how far he can push the boundaries of irresponsible, dangerous, nutty behavior. I think he never wanted to be president and doesn't want to be president now, but his ego would never let him quit because winning is everything and losing is incomprehensible.
The problem, as it has been all along, is that the people who could do something about it wave it off. There seems to be no line that he can cross that the GOP won't find acceptable.

What sparked this was an innocent remark that actually made sense and given in a very articulate way by Rep Oman.

The Board of Rabbis of Greater Rhode Island and the
Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island Stand with the
Muslim Community in Christchurch After Horrific Attack
The Board of Rabbis and the Jewish Alliance are saddened, shocked, and outraged by the terror attacks in Christchurch, New Zealand today in which at least 49 people were murdered and scores more were injured while attending Friday prayers in two different mosques.
We understand the shared grief that comes with an attack on a religious institution. We strongly condemn this violence, motivated by racial and religious hatred, and we affirm our solidarity with all who have been targeted by ideologies of hate. As we approach Shabbat Zachor, we remember the commandment to remember Amalek, the embodiment of such hatred, and we renew our commitment to vanquish hatred by affirming the dignity of all life.
Our community stands with our Muslim brothers and sisters - in New Zealand, in Rhode Island, and around the world - in the face of extremist hatred and violence. We have reached out to our partners in the local community to express our support in this time of grief.
Together, we pray for the souls of the victims and for the recovery of those injured. We express our deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and send our love and compassion to the resilient people of Christchurch.
