President Trump approves disaster declaration for Nebraska after severe winter weather, flooding

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump approved a major disaster declaration Thursday for the state of Nebraska.

The move opens the door to federal aid to help state, tribal and local efforts to recover from the recent severe winter weather and flooding.

Gov. Pete Ricketts requested the declaration, which can take weeks or months in some cases. Ricketts and the state’s entire congressional delegation had asked Trump to expedite the declaration.

“Thank you to President Trump for his quick approval of Nebraska’s request,” Ricketts said in a statement. “Nebraskans have already been stepping up to begin the journey to recovering from the most widespread natural disaster in our state’s history. As we rebuild together, federal assistance is a key part of ensuring that we keep Nebraska strong and growing.”

4. Trump does not care about those people. He is buying votes with outlays from the Federal Treasury.

Trump needs the votes for the 2020 election. "Remember all that money I sent you? -- You OWE me!"

5. Why would he care Nebraska is as red as red can be (except for a few of us)

As this is my first comment, I live in Nebraska, he has to do nothing to get the votes here. He has screwed over most of our small farmers already and they still support him. The dame goes for South Dakota (another red state). He has hurt most of the manufacturers in Nebraska also (we use a lot of steel in our manufacturing). This is just my thoughts and opinions about the matter. Go DEM'S 2020.
