U.S. calls Russia deployment of planes to Venezuela 'reckless escalation'

By Lesley Wroughton and Brian Ellsworth

WASHINGTON/CARACAS (Reuters) - The United States on Monday accused Russia of "reckless escalation" of the situation in Venezuela by deploying military planes and personnel to the crisis-stricken South American nation that Washington has hit with crippling sanctions.

The Russian planes and military personnel arrived outside the Venezuelan capital Caracas on Saturday, according to local media reports, two months after the Trump administration disavowed President Nicolas Maduro.

Washington has recognized opposition leader Juan Guaido as the country's legitimate president and demands that Maduro leave power, which Russia has described as a U.S.-backed coup against the socialist government.

"The United States condemns Russia's deployment of military aircraft and personnel to Caracas, which is another contradiction of both Nicolas Maduro's and Russia's calls for non-intervention in Venezuela and is a reckless escalation of the situation," a State Department spokesman said on condition of anonymity.

If you're going to go in, then GO... Don't sit on the doorstep puffing your chest while Russia slides past you to reinforce said dictator's standing...

And Shitler will do nothing about it, since he's on the Russian payroll. James Monroe is spinning in his grave.

Putin has ordered them to stay away from Venezuela, all the show that Pence and the orange buffoon have put on the media is just that, a show...but now Putin will gain a strategic place in the World, and the orange buffoon has given it to him. That must have been one of the orders the buffoon received from Putin when they met alone.

If Democrats do not do anything substantial to counteract what has happened with the Muller report, and if the military feels loyalty to the buffoon, we will end up like Venezuela...and please don't say it can't happen here, that is what Venezuelans used to say, that is what every citizen of every country that has fallen into dictatorship have said to suddenly realize they are screwed.

Trump just handed Venezuela away to the Russians. They will now have control thanks to Comrade Trump.

I have no idea if they worked that out ahead of time, or if Trump is enough of a rube to do it on his own.

In any case, watch Russia effectively (financially) annex Venezuela next.
