Pentagon chief says $1 billion of funding shifted to border wall

Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Defense shifted $1 billion to plan and build a 57-mile section of “pedestrian fencing”, roads and lighting along the border between the United States and Mexico, the Pentagon chief said on Monday.

Last week, the Pentagon gave Congress a list that included $12.8 billion of construction projects for which it said funds could be redirected for construction along the U.S.-Mexico border.

U.S. President Donald Trump declared a national emergency last month in a bid to fund his promised border wall without congressional approval.

Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan said in a memo to Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen that the Department of Defense had the authority to support counter-narcotics activities near international boundaries.

One day later, just one day and already things are drastically changing for the worse. Maybe the wall is really to keep us in.

the Pentagon isn't "giving" this money away. I'm sure that it got assurances from Trump that any money given for his wall will be replaced.

Trump has a hard sell convincing Congress to give money for his wall so he cuts a deal with the Pentagon. The Pentagon loans him the money for his wall and later on it will be an easier sell for Congress to reimburse the Pentagon. One thing that Trump is good at is grifting.

Any funds they give for this stupid Donnie Shit for Brains Vanity Project...the cuts should be at least DOUBLE.

Time to play fucking hardball. "Oh, you've found $12.8B you can use for this stupid shit...good, I'm sure with some 'DOD accounting', you'll be able to get by with $25.6B less this year"

Besides, what's going to prevent Mexico from just stealing the wall. Fuck, we can't even keep track of concertino wire.

The stealing of that wire was the best use of my tax dollars I've ever seen.

And Obama cautions incoming progressives about the costs of promoting leftist causes. I feel like a kid with drunken parents who are constantly blowing all the household money on partying and extravagances who turn around and tell you there’s no money to buy schoolbooks, or a bike.

There always seems to be lots of money for wars, and by extension, war profiteers...
