In what sounded a bit like an Alex Jones fever dream, former Kansas Secretary of State and potential Trump administration appointee Kris Kobach suggested Wednesday that the government create processing town detention centers for asylum-seekers along the southern border.
Instead of selling the thousands of empty mobile home trailers that the United States owns right now, Kobach told Fox Business Networks Lou Dobbs in an interview, deploy them to border cities and create processing towns that are confined.
And so when someone comes in and falsely claims asylum, we dont release them for six months onto the streets of the United States, we process them right there in that camp, where they have the three square meals, theyre living in a nice mobile home, Kobach said. And then as soon as theyre done, as soon as the claim is rejected, theyre on the next plane back home.
Kobach also urged the Department of Homeland Security to publish the final version of a proposed change to the so-called Flores settlement, spelling out, in Kobachs words, how we can detain entire families together.

(16,698 posts)Ya let 'em go, they feed and house themselves. You detain them, you're on the hook for food, water, shelter, medical care, child education...
That ain't gonna be cheap.

he's constantly testing the water and getting away with every fucking thing. why not?
Go look up a picture of a prisoner barracks at Treblinka...because that's the kind of shelter, Kobach is talking about. Look up Mauthausen and read about the child education system that was set up there, or the medical care that was provided!
Why do you think that POS wants these camps in secluded areas...so that no one knows what's really happening!!!
The moment someone begins advocating for camps for a specific group of people, that's when you know that what Hitler and the Nazis did in Europe can be repeated here in the United States, by white nationalists like Kobach and Dobbs!!!

(16,698 posts)I mean, there was no ACLU in Nazi Germany. But it is important to oppose these things before they get anywhere near that point.

(10,314 posts)Despite KK's Nazi nature or rather, because of it, he showed his hand there in that he believes all asylum claims are hoaxes. And as awful as that proposal is, you would expect to hear something like "...as soon as the claim is evaluated and a determination made...".
Actually, in the America I still believe in, that statement would have never been made.
