It seems like Russian President Vladimir Putin may be deciding that Donald Trump is more trouble than hes worth, after he failed to lift US sanctions against Russia multiple times. Russian officials are speaking out against Trump, mocking him, taunting, and now, talking about releasing blackmail material.
A Russian debate took place on Russian state-run television where several Russian officials discussed various political issues. One of which was was Nikita Isaev, the Director of the Russian Institute of Contemporary Economics.
He said, Lets hit Trump with our Kompromat!, which certainly looks like a reference to the infamous Pee Pee Tape or, at the very least, some type of other blackmail material the Kremlin is holding over Trumps head. (NOTE: In Russian politics, kompromat, short for compromising material is damaging information about a politician or other public figure used to create negative publicity, for blackmail, or for ensuring loyalty. )
The host asked, Do we have it? Isaev responded Of course we have it!
You can watch the hour-long Russian-language video can be watched here.
Julia Davis brought this to our attention when she pointed out Nikita Isaevs call for the release of Kompromat. The interested part here is that someone in Isaevs position wouldnt have said something like this on Kremlin-controlled TV unless Vladimir Putin gave him permission to say it.

(6,110 posts)Mueller seems to have failed. Trump's secretary of Treasury won't let IRS release Donny's tax returns. May be Putin comes to the rescue.

It makes sense. Trump has not lifted the sanctions - and is in no position to do so.
Putin's goal was to cause as much havoc in the US as possible. Now that the country is as divided as it is, toppling Trump would be like throwing a match on a nation soaked in gasoline. Mission accomplished.

(35,300 posts)To which my usual response is, "The intelligence report said Russia wants to sow discord. The general attitude is that disinformation from Russia cannot be trusted. But we implicitly trust anything that those who are so pro-Trump say that's obviously so anti-Trump, while implicitly distrusting anything they say that's pro-Trump. We don't evaluate their trustworthiness, except against how much they tell us what we want to believe is true."
Isaev just believes the dossier. He cites it. He believes it. Because it's there and it's convenient. It's more of the same, not an independent witness. And Isaev is very much not pro-Trump. He's very much pro-Russia and wants to slap Trump down.
Actually the video is here.
