'It's tragic': Video shows Chicago police officers hitting, dragging student down stairs

Source: USA TODAY/Chicago Sun-Times

Ryan W. Miller, USA TODAY Published 6:57 p.m. ET April 12, 2019

Newly released surveillance video shows Chicago police officers dragging a high school student down a flight of stairs and kicking and hitting her and using a stun gun.

Dnigma Howard, 16, initially faced felony charges after police said she initiated the January incident at Marshall High School. However, the charges were dropped, and the newly released video contradicts what police reported, Andrew M. Stroth, Dnigma's attorney, told USA TODAY on Friday.

"You have an unarmed 16-year-old girl that was tackled and thrown down the stairs, punched, kicked then tased by the officers," Stroth said. "It's a saving grace for that young lady that the video tape existed."

Laurentio Howard, Dnigma's father, filed a federal civil rights lawsuit on Thursday against the city of Chicago, its board of education and the two police officers.

Hah

Personally I don't believe local law enforcement should be walking the halls. When I was in high school it was the Vice Principal that controlled what happened. Along with teachers assigned. And if you got out of line you went to detention.

LEO should only be called in when detention won't do it.

...Officers have done this kind of thing for decades. Same crap. Beat the shit out of people. And they always got away with it. Embolden, they never answered to anybody. The officers were sure they could get away with it.
They were not just sure, these officers were absolutely positive they could get away with it. But, a video existed, way far away, and the officers will pay for what they did.. The officers lied about what they did and were caught.

The officers shut down their own cameras, but the video from afar, caught them. It is not tragic, it is a miracle

.....The officers never got caught before, but these officers are caught beating up someone. For all to see..not just a few can see it, but everyone in Chicago can see it. Everyone in the U.S.A. can see it. A video from afar has caught the thugs that had the nerve to beat up a student. My guess is that these officers will be fired. They city will pay a large amount of money to settle this case. These officers will be charged and fired. They might even go to jail. Filing a false report is against the law. Beating up people as we all can see, is also against the law.

..If the officers had followed normal practices, then we wouldn't be seeing this. But these officers did not follow normal practices. They created their own laws. And were sure they could get away with it. That is not tragic, it is a positive miracle for all to see, because they got caught.

When the report does not match the video then those who broke the law should be sent to PRISON. Only when lying cops are sent to prison will the herd OBEY.....
